The AHR Expo is expected to attract a near-record number of industry professionals to its 2005 show, Feb. 7-9. The event, to be held at the Orange County Convention Center, marks the first time AHR has visited Orlando, FL.

According to show management, with more than 365,000 sq.ft. of exhibit space, the 2005 event is already one of the most successful ever. More than 1,800 companies have already reserved space.

“The Southeast represents one of the strongest HVACR markets in the United States,” says Clay Stevens, president of International Exposition Company, which produces and manages the AHR Expo. “Due to climate diversity, the normal demand for heating, refrigeration and ventilation products is accentuated by the intense use of air-conditioning.”

The show will feature two special product sections, the Building Automation & Control Showcase and the Software Center.

For those looking for educational opportunities, many of the Expo’s endorsing associations will conduct free sessions on topics ranging from business management to technical developments, including building automation.

A representative from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will speak on how proper equipment operation and maintenance affects energy efficiency. In addition, the U.S. finals of the SkillsUSA student competition will also be held during the show.

As always, ASHRAE is producing a large variety of sessions in conjunction with its annual Winter Meeting, which is held concurrently with the show. These will include numerous short courses with a nominal tuition charge and a free public session on “Battling Humidity in Southern Climates.”

The 2005 Expo is again expected to be a major event for international exhibitors and attendees. The Expo will feature a strong international presence, with 300 companies from 31 countries signed up to display hundreds of new and innovative products.

Representation from around the globe includes more than 123 Canadian companies, 34 companies from Europe, and 86 from Pacific Rim countries.

The Third Annual AHR Expo “Innovation Awards” will also be presented. Winning companies will be honored at a special ceremony on Tuesday, February 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the New Product Technology Theater on the show floor.

The event is co-sponsored by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI). The Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) is an honorary sponsor.
