Emerson Climate Technologies Announces New HVACR Product Selection Software
Emerson Climate Technologies announced its new refrigeration product selection software tool. This tool offers the refrigeration industry a comprehensive resource for important refrigeration equipment selection, calculations, and simplified system analysis.
The product selection software tool is a PC-based integrated equipment performance and energy calculation tool. It can calculate the annual compressor performance for up to 10 compressors, guiding the user to properly select refrigeration equipment for particular applications. It has multi-lingual capabilities (English and Spanish) and provides reports via the click of a button. The software also offers many additional features including:
- Compressor performance (single or group) generation
- Downloadable compressor co-efficients
- Links to compressor bill-of-materials, compressor drawings and wiring diagrams
- Brazed plate heat exchanger selection

New Residential Geothermal Drilling Rig From RigKits
RigKits announces the K60 Geothermal Drilling Rig. This unit is specially designed for restricted access residential retrofit of geothermal ground loops.
At just 5-ft. wide, the unit can get into most back yards, sources say. It has an onboard rod rack that can hold 380-ft. of 10-ft. rods and is capable of drilling over 500-ft. deep.
What separates RigKits from other manufacturers is that the equipment is sold in kit form. All the fabrication is done leaving the owner to bolt the unit together, fit the hydraulics and paint it.

Broan 13-SEER Air Conditioners Go Micochannel
Broan has begun implementing microchannel coil technology as a running change on 2, 2.5 and 3-ton 13-SEER R-410A air conditioner models.
As opposed to traditional tube-in-fin coils with copper tubes and aluminum fins, microchannel uses an all-aluminum construction. Because of microchannel's efficiency, the coil also consumes less space. The 2-ton FS4BD Series model is 24¼-in. tall.
The smaller coil mass also means the Broan units use less refrigerant — up to 42% less than traditional 13-SEER units.
According to company sources, microchannel coils also clean up easily with just a power washer, and the single-metal design means that they resist salt spray better than conventional coils.
