The Contracting Businesscom 2013 DesignBuild Awards

2013 Contracting Business.com Design/Build Awards

Oct. 10, 2013
Since 1990 Contracting Business.com magazine has been recognizing excellence in design quality in the commercial mechanical systems industry. The winners this year exemplify the very best comfort systems design and quality.

The Comfort Factor

Our 2013 Design/Build Award winners serve as a collection of projects “for the people.” By that we mean, people working or gathering in diverse places, for different reasons, but who all want and need comfortable surroundings and optimum-performing mechanical systems.

Wyebrook Farm Market

The project by Clark, Inc. at the Wyebrook Farm market serves up a comfortable indoor dining environment as fresh as the great outdoors of the rural Pennsylvania farmland in which its located.

Clark’s second winning project for 2013, for the offices of Ponessa & Associates, ensures that those visiting for various kinds of life counseling will find warmth in winter and a cool environment in summer.
EMCOR New England Mechanical Services tackled a monumental challenge of providing sufficient chilled water for manufacturing at the Orafol Americas facility in Avon, CT, as well as some much-needed make-up air for comfort cooling.

Finally, the project by KW Lang Mechanical for the 9th District U.S. Coast Guard facility in Cleveland, OH, was an economical yet very efficient solution for a new facility with a busy staff guarding the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway.

These projects represent Design/Build mechanical contracting at its best and most inventive. These contractors invested their most precious commodity — time — to carefully examine and diagnose each customer’s comfort needs, design the best approach to meeting those needs, and install state-of-the-industry systems with great expertise and success.

Congratulations to this year’s winners! You’ve shown us some of the best the industry as to offer, and hopefully, will inspire others on the sidelines to enter a project in 2014.
