Emerson Approves R-407A for Copeland Scroll in Medium, Low Temp Apps
Sources from Emerson Climate Technologies Inc., a business of Emerson, announced on June 9 that Emerson has approved the use of R-407A refrigerant for Copeland Scroll® refrigeration compressors in medium- and low-temperature applications, per the approved operating range.

Emerson engineers also recently approved R-407A for Copeland Discus® compressors. The latest approval for Copeland Scroll refrigeration compressors offers another option to use R-407A refrigerant in OEM refrigeration equipment. "With the phase-out of R-22, the commercial refrigeration industry continues to explore alternative refrigerants," says Leland Smith, director refrigeration marketing, Emerson Climate Technologies.

For low-temperature operation at higher condensing temperatures, economized vapor injection (EVI) with demand cooling liquid injection is required with the use of R-407A for Copeland Scroll compressors. A demand cooling module kit is available for this purpose.

Hy-Vee Joins GreenChill
Sources from the Hy-Vee, Inc. supermarket chain announced that the company is partnering with the US EPA's GreenChill Program to reduce refrigerant emissions and help protect the ozone layer and fight climate change. The membership requires that all of Hy-Vee's new and remodeled stores use environmentally friendlier refrigerants, reduce the amount of refrigerant use and leaks, and adopt green refrigeration technologies, strategies, and practices. http://bit.ly/hyveegreenchill
