Feb. 4, 2025
David Holt brings decades of industry experience to lead the strategic direction of EGIA Contractor University’s future educational content, curriculum, and activities in his new role as general manager.

SACRAMENTO, California The Electric & Gas Industries Association (EGIA) announced
that contracting industry veteran David Holt has joined the EGIA team as the general manager of
Contractor University, an industry-leading business training platform for contracting businesses. David
brings nearly 40 years of experience working with contractors, distributors, manufacturers, and trade
associations to EGIA and Contractor University.

In his new role as general manager, Holt will oversee and lead the day-to-day activities and overall
strategic direction for EGIA Contractor University. He will be responsible for identifying the training
curriculum that contractors need to make their businesses successful in today’s marketplace and he’ll
manage the team of industry experts required to create it for member contractors. Additionally, Holt
will play a key role in cultivating, developing, and maintaining strategic partner relationships with the
HVAC industry’s preeminent equipment manufacturers, distributors and suppliers for EGIA.

“I'm thrilled to join EGIA as the general manager of Contractor University because this role represents
an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the contracting community that I love,” said
Holt. “I am passionate about helping contractors grow their businesses through a planned approach that
focuses on delivering the ultimate service experience for their customers. I look forward to working with
the amazingly talented EGIA team to further elevate Contractor University as the go-to resource for
empowering contractors with the tools and training required for long-term success.”

Before joining EGIA, Holt has spent nearly four decades serving the HVAC industry. He started by
sweeping floors and running parts at his grandfather's HVAC business. After graduating from college, he
founded a software company that developed one of the industry's first DOS-based service management
and dispatching programs. Holt also served as president of the family HVAC business and was elected
to ACCA's national board of directors. After the family business was sold in 1999, Holt transitioned to a
career in HVAC training, coaching, and consulting, holding various roles with Profit Strategies, National
Comfort Institute, and SilverBullet Price Page.

“Having known and respected David for many years, it was an easy decision to bring him on board in this key leadership role,” said Bruce Matulich, CEO of EGIA. “David’s hands-on experience in nearly every
facet of the industry, and his deep understanding of the various needs that contractors have in their
businesses, will provide an essential perspective that will be instrumental in our ability to maintain EGIA
Contractor University as the industry’s preeminent solution for contractor business training in the years
to come.”
