R-410A Is Here to Stay - Know the Facts that will keep you and your customers safe
On January 1, 2010 equipment manufacturers must discontinue the use of HCFC R-22 in new equipment.
To prepare air conditioning professionals for the challenges presented by R410A, a great deal of the industry has united behind the AC&R Safety Coalition Universal R-410A Safety Training Program. Organizations that offer the training materials include: ESCO Institute, Ferris State University, HVAC Excellence, Indoor Air Quality Association, Industrial Technical Excellence, Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, Associations, Manufacturers, Schools, Wholesalers, Air Conditioning Contractors of America, Amana Heating and Cooling , Bacharach Inc, COSA, Goodman Manufacturing, International Comfort Products, and the United Association.
The AC&R Safety Coalitions Training Materials Include:
The Universal R-410A Safety and Training Manual provides the necessary training and practical knowledge to safely perform service on systems containing R-410A and R-407C. In addition, this manual includes information on: the R-22 phase-out, appropriate refrigerant and oil applications, service techniques, as well as safe handling of R-410A.
An Interactive CD-ROM reviews the book chapter by chapter in a interactive manner. The CD breaks R-410A training into categories each with specific sub topics. Each category contains practice questions to help persons to successfully prepare for their R-410A Certification.
For persons conducting formal training an Instructors Guide is available that includes section by section overview, objectives, and lessons plans. Includes section by section mapping to the Power Point presentation, and approximate time frames. Additionally, a Power Point Presentation with Speakers Notes is available to keep the program on track.
Upon completion of training, the Universal R-410A Certification shows evidence of a technicians professional ability to safely handle and work with this new generation of refrigerants and air conditioners. Successful test takers will receive a wall certificate, a wallet sized certification card and an embroidered shoulder patch issued by HVAC Excellence.
R-410A requires service personal to shift to different tools and equipment, safety standards and fundamentals when installing, changing out (retrofitting) older split A/C systems, and repairing systems in the field. HVAC service persons need to understand the safe handling, proper charging, operating characteristics, proper applications, and general use of R-410A refrigerant.
