Citing safety concerns, travel restrictions and hotel regulations related to COVID-19, Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) announced on its event website (accaconference.com) the cancellation of the 2021 ACCA Conference, which had been scheduled for February in New Orleans.
The statement reads:
"We tried, and for the past several months ACCA and the Events Committee have been meeting and planning an amazing conference for contractors to attend. The goal, as always, is to bring the best and brightest contractors together to learn and grow as an industry. Unfortunately, due to rising concerns with COVID-19 and increased restrictions, we knew we could not create the type of conference experience our members expect and have grown to love. We look forward to seeing you in-person during a future ACCA event."
Events Committee co-chairs, Brian Stack, Stack Heating & Cooling, Avon, Oh., and Ryan Kletz, One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning, Virginia Beach, explained the situation in a video address to ACCA membership:
"Unfortunately, as fall set in and the weather has cooled down, things changed," Kletz added. "COVID cases started rising, states began to increase restrictions and move backwards with their COVID protocols, and more and more states have enacted quarantine restrictions for traveling out of state."
The ACCA Events Committee, made up of board of directors members, contractor members, corporate partners and exhibitors, voted unanimously to postpone the conference in New Orleans until April 2-5, 2023. The 2022 ACCA Conference is expected to be presented in St. Louis, Mo., March 28-30, 2022.
