The PHCC of Georgia and CobbWorks were recently presented with the Cinda Herdon-King Award by CareerRise for the Power Up! Plumbing Pilot Program. The award honors an organization that has demonstrated innovation in creating collaborative, employer-driven career training programs in the metro Atlanta region. CareerRise is a workforce intermediary that creates family-sustaining wage opportunities and career pathways,
and champions economic mobility. PHCC of Georgia and CobbWorks were selected for their work in pre-apprenticeship that promotes economic mobility in the skilled trades for underserved populations.
CareerRise extended its thanks to Michelle Baker-Williams, Donna Robinson, Dorma Davis, Pam Johnson and LaDonna Huggins, who helped to develop, launch and nurture the program and its participants from 2021-2023. Additional thanks were given to PHCCGA Board 2nd vice president member Karen Hill, HM Plumbing, for establishing a productive partnership with CobbWorks.
Formed in 1892, the PHCC of GA is the oldest state construction trade association.
