Rinnai America Corporation and the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) are joining forces to promote improved home-energy performance in the U.S. As part of the agreement, Rinnai will help educate HVAC and building professionals on the RESNET Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index, the industry standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured. The HERS system was developed by RESNET and is a nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.

“Our partnership with Rinnai will help building and remodeling professionals better understand how tankless water heaters can contribute to a home’s overall health,” says Steve Baden, executive director for RESNET.

“Additionally, it will allow these professionals to accurately account for potential home-energy savings, helping to further differentiate themselves in the marketplace.”

Rinnai also will serve on the Mechanical Industry Advisory Council of the RESNET Technical Committee. This Council provides reviews of RESNET standards addressing the HVAC and water heating industry. “As additional leading builders become engaged in sustainable building practices, the HERS rating will become more of a “miles per gallon” standard for home building efficiency,” according to Aaron Baugh, residential business development manager at Rinnai. “We're proud to partner with RESNET and assist builders in expanding their energy-efficient efforts and the advancement of building science.”

The Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) is the independent, national nonprofit organization that homeowners trust to improve home energy efficiency and realize substantial savings on their utility bills. RESNET’s industry-leading standards are recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, among others. Since 1995, RESNET-certified inspectors have rated more than 1 million homes.
