Though the International Air-conditioning Heating and Refrigeration (AHR) Expo of 2014 is solidly in the books, the bitter cold weather and blanketing snowfall is still driving up heating bills across the country. As usual, this year’s events broke previous records in terms of attendance and exhibitors. More importantly, the showcase of products and services found across the vast floors of the Jacob Javits convention center in New York City were impressive, to say the least.
Our editorial team hit the show hard — from press conferences to booth visits, as well as social media and posting stints on both our magazine website (contractingbusiness.com) and on our forum, HVAC-Talk.com, to keep those of you who couldn’t get there informed on the really cool things we saw and heard.
popular Beatles tribute band Strawberry Fields as entertainment. This fake “Fab Four” serenaded guests with a generous sampling of Beatles music.
Aerial acrobatics, gambling for prizes with free tokens, and plenty of good food and drink was served up at the Emerson Climate Technologies party at Cipriani’s Wall Street.
Tool company hilmor, a division of Newell Rubbermaid, is taking the tool industry by storm, and has also become a major player in the AHR Expo party category as well. Hilmor held its second annual opening night reception at the Standard Hotel’s Biergarten. Guests enjoyed tasty beer, warm food, ping pong games, and displays of hilmor tools.Cold Days, Hot Products
As snow pummeled the Jacob Javits Convention Center, AHR Expo attendees —
reported by the International Exposition Co. to be near the 40,000 mark — were warm and cozy and some probably downright exhausted as they made their way around 387,000 sq.ft. of show space, a new exhibit space record for AHR Expos held in New York City. Here’s a generous sampling — possibly the most comprehensive post-show collection of AHR Expo 2014 products by any industry publication — that the ContractingBusiness.com’s editors found to be of interest.
Enjoy this look at some products — and some of the great people — that went into making AHR Expo 2014 such a hit!
